Beating the Heat to Walk a Beat

Prince George’s County, Maryland… Despite the predictions of ninety-four degree weather with high humidity, applicants applying for the Prince George’s County Police Department will be out this afternoon to perform their Applicant Physical Requirement Test.
More than thirty applicants are scheduled to arrive at the Training and Education Division today at 2 p.m. where they will be taking their Physical Requirement Test as part of the application process to become police officers.  Each applicant must demonstrate muscular endurance with timed Sit-Up and Push-Up tests before stepping out into the heat for a 1.5 mile run to test their cardiovascular capacity.
PGPD wants to remind everyone to drink plenty of water and stay shaded as much as possible as the temperature and humidity remains high.  Applicants will be testing today at 2 p.m. and Friday, August 12th, at 10 a.m.
For further information, please contact the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Press Information Office at (301) 772-4710.
