Update in Murder of Charles Walker, Jr.

Update:
Chief Magaw's news conference on the murder of Charles Walker will be at 5p at PGPD HQ.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating the murder of 15 year-old Charles Michael Walker, Jr. of the 4200 block of 28th Avenue in Hillcrest Heights.

On February 18, 2013, at approximately 4:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4100 block of 28th Avenue for a welfare check call.  Once on scene, patrol officers found Walker on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Prince George’s County Police homicide detectives are working to develop a motive in this murder.  Detectives have received multiple tips to the Crime Solvers line and are encouraging continued community engagement as the PGPD works to make an arrest.  That number is 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw will hold a news conference early this evening -- possibly at 5:00pm -- at Prince George’s County Police Headquarters in Palmer Park to update the community and members of the media on the latest details in this case.  Please monitor our Twitter feed @PGPDNews for a start time.  We will provide a 90-minute warning on our social media sites before the start of the news conference.

For more information, please calls the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Media Relations Division at 301-772-4710.
