PGPD Chief Magaw to Attend IACP Conference & MCC Fall Meeting



Prince George’s County Police Chief Mark Magaw is in Philadelphia to attend the 2013 International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP) and the Fall meeting of the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCC).

The MCC includes the chief law enforcement executives of 63 of the largest urban areas in the country and the seven largest cities in Canada. IACP is the world’s oldest and largest organization of police executives with more than 20,000 members representing more than 100 countries. Chief Magaw has the honor of being the Chairman of the IACP Firearms Committee.  On Sunday, October 20, 2013, Chief Magaw and 30 IACP members will discuss issues involving guns and make recommendations to the IACP regarding policy and procedures.  Chief Magaw will also be speaking on a FBI panel about targeting criminal organizations.

Assistant Chief Craig Howard and Deputy Chief Hector Velez are also attending the IACP conference. They’ll be joined by the PGPD’s Inspector General Carlos Acosta who is part of the Pretrial Justice Reform Initiative Working Group.   Media Relations Division Director Julie Parker is also attending the IACP conference.  Mrs. Parker will be on a panel discussing messaging and maintaining relationships with members of the media. The IACP conference runs October 19-23, 2013.
