PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Landover

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Landover. The victim is 25-year-old Kevin James Rice of E. Chesapeake Street in Landover.

On June 19th, at about 10:40 pm, patrol officers were called to the 7000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway for a collision involving a car and two pedestrians.

The preliminary investigation reveals the car was traveling westbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway when it struck Rice and a toddler as they were attempting to cross the roadway. Preliminarily, it appears they were not in a crosswalk. Rice died of his injuries at a hospital on Monday. The toddler’s injuries do not appear life-threatening. The driver of the car remained on the scene.
