Two Suspects in Custody for February Homicide in Capitol Heights

Homicide Unit detectives identified and arrested two suspects in connection with a homicide in Capitol Heights in February. The suspects are 25-year-old Tre Branch of the 4700 block of Omaha Street in Capitol Heights and 26-year-old Pierre Queen of the 900 block of 48th Street in Northeast DC. They’re charged with the fatal stabbing of 32-year-old Joseph Whack of no fixed address.

On February 4th, at approximately 11:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 1300 block of Glacier Avenue to check on the welfare of a man in the roadway. When they arrived, they located the victim suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed Branch and Queen as suspects. The preliminary investigation reveals the suspects stabbed the victim during a dispute. The suspects and victim were acquaintances.  The suspects are both charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
